Terms of Use

Effective October 21, 2026 · Licensed application end user licence agreement for the Dinra iPhone app

The short version

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [OWNER_NAME] (“Dinra”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using the Dinra app, you accept these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must accept these Terms for you.

2. What Dinra does

Dinra suggests weekly dinners within a grocery budget you set, prices them at the store you choose, builds a shopping list by aisle and helps you use up what you buy. Some features are free; others need a Dinra Plus subscription. We may improve, change or remove features over time. If we remove a paid feature in a way that significantly reduces what you paid for, you keep your rights under consumer law.

3. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Dinra app on any Apple-branded iPhone that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing, where Apple allows it.

You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the app. You may not copy, decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, try to derive the source code of, modify or create derivative works of the app, except where the law or the licence of an open-source component allows it. The app is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights not expressly granted.

4. Apple-specific terms

Because you got Dinra from Apple's App Store, the following also applies:

  1. Acknowledgement. These Terms are between you and Dinra only, not Apple. Dinra, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. If these Terms give you fewer rights than Apple's Usage Rules, the Usage Rules prevail on that point.
  2. Scope of licence. The licence in section 3 is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules.
  3. Maintenance and support. Dinra alone is responsible for maintenance and support, as described in these Terms and on our Support page or as required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
  4. Warranty. Dinra is responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are Dinra's responsibility, to the extent not disclaimed.
  5. Product claims. Dinra, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  6. Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Dinra, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  7. Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer name and address. Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to: [OWNER_NAME], [OWNER_ADDRESS], [email protected].
  9. Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app (for example your mobile carrier's terms and Apple's terms for iCloud).
  10. Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

5. Dinra Plus subscription

Dinra Plus is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store and charged to your Apple Account. Plans, free trials, renewal, cancellation, refunds and Family Sharing are described on our Subscription terms page, which is part of these Terms. In short:

6. Prices are estimates

Grocery prices and totals in Dinra are estimates, shown with “≈”. They are based on official average price statistics (such as Statistics Canada, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Stats NZ), typical differences between stores, the pack sizes stores usually sell, and price corrections from users. Dinra prices full packs, not the spoonful a recipe needs, and doesn't count pantry basics like salt and oil.

Actual shelf prices, sales, loyalty prices, pack sizes, taxes and availability change and vary by store, date and location, so your receipt can differ. “Saved” amounts compare estimated costs and are not a promise of savings. Dinra isn't a price quote or an offer to sell anything.

Dinra is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any supermarket or grocery chain. Store and brand names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the store you chose.

7. Nutrition information

Calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates per serving are estimates calculated from the recipe's ingredients, using reference values per 100 g from USDA FoodData Central. Real values depend on the products, brands, amounts and cooking methods you use. Nutrition information is for general information only. It is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice and is not meant to diagnose, treat or manage any condition. If you follow a diet for medical reasons, or are pregnant, talk to a doctor or registered dietitian.

8. Allergies and diets

Important: always read the label. Dinra's allergy and diet filter is based on our recipe data and the allergies, diets and foods you enter. It cannot guarantee that a recipe, ingredient or product is free of an allergen.

Always read ingredient and allergen labels on every product, every time, and check with the manufacturer if unsure. The filter is not a substitute for medical advice. If you or someone you cook for has a serious allergy, follow your doctor's guidance. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

9. Food safety

Follow safe food handling: wash hands and surfaces, keep raw meat apart from ready-to-eat food, refrigerate leftovers promptly and reheat them until steaming hot. Cook food to safe internal temperatures (check with a food thermometer and your local food safety authority). Cooking times, timers and step photos in cook mode are aids only. Ovens, stoves and ingredients vary. You are responsible for checking that food is cooked through and safe to eat, and for using kitchen equipment safely. Timer alerts depend on your iPhone's notification and sound settings and may not arrive (for example if notifications are off or the phone is silent).

10. Illustrative photos

Dish photos and cooking-step photos in Dinra are illustrative images made for Dinra, including with the help of AI image-generation tools. Each dish photo is made from that recipe's own ingredients, but your plate may look different. They are not photos of a specific meal cooked by a real person.

11. Your content

Your own dish photos, imported dish names and prices you enter are yours. Your photos stay on your iPhone and are not uploaded to us. If you share a photo, you choose where it goes, and you are responsible for having the right to share it. When you send a price correction, you give us a free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use it, combined with others, to improve price estimates for everyone. Price corrections are anonymous and are never shown as your content.

12. Acceptable use

Please don't misuse Dinra. In particular, don't:

We may limit features (for example price corrections) for anyone who breaks these rules.

13. Intellectual property

The app, its recipes, texts, photos, design, software and price data are owned by Dinra or our licensors and are protected by law. “Dinra” and the Dinra logo are our trademarks. You may use Dinra only for your own personal, non-commercial meal planning. Third-party trademarks are covered on our Legal notice page.

14. Third-party services

Dinra relies on services from Apple (App Store, iCloud, Reminders, notifications) and the providers named in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Apple services is governed by Apple's terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, websites or stores, including whether a store has a product in stock or at the price shown.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent the law allows, Dinra is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't promise that the app will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, that prices, nutrition or allergen information will be accurate or complete, or that the app will meet your particular needs. This section doesn't affect any warranty or guarantee that can't be excluded by law (see section 17).

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Dinra is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Dinra Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 (or EUR 50, or the equivalent in your local currency).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

17. Your consumer rights

These Terms don't take away rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived or limited by contract. For example:

18. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to compensate Dinra for reasonable losses and costs arising from third-party claims caused by your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the app. This doesn't apply to consumers where local law doesn't allow it, and it doesn't apply to losses we caused.

19. Ending use

You can stop using Dinra anytime by deleting the app. If you have a subscription, cancel it as well (see how to cancel). We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. If we do, we'll act proportionately and, where the law requires, tell you why. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) survive the end of these Terms.

20. Changes to these Terms

When we change these Terms, we update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Changes never reduce your rights for a period you've already paid for. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription.

21. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING_LAW], and disputes go to the courts of [GOVERNING_LAW]. However, if you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country, province or state where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.

EU consumers: the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform was discontinued in July 2025. You can still use out-of-court dispute resolution bodies in your country where available. We are not obliged, and do not commit, to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

22. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a right right away, we don't give it up. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over Dinra, provided your rights are not reduced. This English version is binding; translations are for convenience, except where local law requires a version in your language to prevail.
